The Sports department of Manilva Town Hall, headed by Manolo Gil, is launching, together with the Club Ciclista Manilva, a new sporting activity for the municipality’s youngest residents. This is the Escuela Municipal de Ciclismo (Municipal Cycling School), a fast-growing sport that is in high demand locally, open to children aged 4 to 14 so that they can develop alongside a series of values associated with this fine sport, such as teamwork, healthy living and discipline. Through activities and games they will learn to ride a bike, as well as motor skills, balance, coordination, technique and bike mechanics.
The classes will take place on the open esplanade next to the Ciudad de la Petanca in Sabinillas (behind the Guardia Civil barracks), which can be reached by the existing cycle lane in this area, on Mondays and Wednesdays from 16:00 to 17:30.
The classes will be taught by instructors qualified by the Federación Andaluza de Ciclismo from the Club Ciclista Manilva, which, in its tenth anniversary year, is taking on this new challenge with great enthusiasm and is convinced that it will contribute to the health and wellbeing of its pupils’ educational development.
On 26 and 28 September, from 16:00 to 17:30, any pupils who wish to may come along to these free open days to get a first-hand look at some of the activities that will be taking place.
CCManilva is appealing to all families who have bikes they no longer use, or that their children have outgrown, to donate them to the school so that they can be repaired and put back into use for the children.
All the information and registration is available at https://ccmanilva.com/escuela-de-ciclismo/. Places are limited.
