The mayor of Manilva, Mario Jiménez, and the education councillor, Daniel Muñoz, have welcomed to the Town Hall the new territorial delegate for Educational Development and Vocational Training and for University, Research and Innovation, Miguel Briones Artacho, to discuss several matters of interest to our municipality.
Also attending the meeting were María Lozano, Secretary General of Educational Development, José Labrador, Manager of the Andalusian Public Education Agency, and Alejandro Berrido, Head of the Planning Service.
The main issue raised with Briones was the pressing need to build a new secondary school in order to ease pupil-to-teacher ratios and provide a better environment in which young people can develop.
The delegate responded positively to this request, and the established timescales will continue so that the new school becomes a reality as soon as possible. These steps, set by the Junta de Andalucía, will be shortened as far as possible.
The education councillor also reported on the demands made by the AMPA «El Oleaje», supported by the governing team, which call for more material and human resources so that pupils with special educational needs at this school are properly looked after while real integration is achieved.
It was a fruitful meeting, thanks to the positive response from the aforementioned regional body and the good understanding between authorities, as the mayor noted: «I am grateful to Mr Briones for visiting our town and for personally attending to our needs, which are none other than to meet all the needs our young people require as they embark on their academic development,» he concluded.
For his part, the delegate highlighted the willingness of Manilva Town Hall, within its powers, to improve education in the municipality, and said: «my visits to Manilva, now as territorial delegate for Educational Development and previously in other roles, have always proved productive, with a notable cordiality and a need to work together,» he concluded.
