The mayor of Manilva, Mario Jiménez, and the first deputy mayor, Diego José Jiménez, have held an important online meeting with the General Head of the Guardia Civil, José Manuel Santiago Marín, at which the issue of security in the municipality was again discussed.

The municipal representatives, as they had already done in person at the Guardia Civil Directorate General in Madrid, insisted on the pressing need to turn the Manilva barracks into a main station.

The General Head remains committed to carrying out this restructuring of the organisation chart, in which there have already been significant changes in the area, such as the appointment of a new Commander in Marbella and the forthcoming arrival of a Lieutenant in our town, upgrading it from an ordinary post to a main station.

With the arrival of the aforementioned officer around March, the pyramid structure would begin, to be completed later with two sergeants, three corporals and twenty-six guards.

The increase in the number of officers and the ability to carry out administrative procedures at the barracks are two of the important contributions in terms of security.

The Town Hall is fully willing to cooperate, offering the possibility of signing an agreement to improve the station’s infrastructure.

The governing partners reiterated, as they have done in numerous meetings, the importance of the request, particularly given that Manilva lies between the Campo de Gibraltar and the Costa del Sol.
