The Tourism councillor, Eva Galindo, attended the Instituto de Estudios Portuarios at the Port of Málaga to take part in a conference that dealt with interesting issues to be projected onto our municipality.

Antonio Díaz, Managing Director of Turismo Costa del Sol, spoke about the situation of the British market in the province of Málaga and trends in the British market.
Also present, among other figures from the sector, was Manuel Butler, Director of the Spanish Tourist Office (OET) in London.

The British market remains one of the main sources of tourists for the Costa del Sol, ranking second in 2021, behind the French market.

Today tour operators have bought 2 million seats on flights from the United Kingdom to Málaga, with 90% of these sales secured, and this figure is expected to increase.

The meeting looked at how the conflict between Russia and Ukraine affects the flow of British tourists to Spain, and to Málaga in particular, with geographical distance working in its favour.

In conclusion, Manilva is very interested in British tourism forecasts, not only because of the high number of aircraft seats planned for Málaga but also because of our proximity to Gibraltar and its airport.
