The mayor of Manilva, Mario Jiménez, and the first deputy mayor, Diego José Jiménez, attended this morning the most important meeting of the term on security matters.

By video link, the municipal officials spoke with the Director General of the Guardia Civil, María Gámez, to discuss security in our town and, above all, to once again convey the need to upgrade the Guardia Civil barracks to a main post.

In a cordial atmosphere of full cooperation, one of the people with the highest responsibility for security at national level responded positively to this request, so the first steps towards this goal will begin.

The process will involve, first of all, the Guardia Civil creating a command structure. From there, the current barracks will be adapted and extended to meet the conditions and characteristics required of a main post and, once the works are finished, officers will then be assigned to the unit.

The Governing Team has managed to start a procedure that had dragged on for years and that is currently much needed to safeguard the security of the residents of our town, as the size of the population requires it.
