Urgently, the mayor of Manilva, Mario Jimenez, the first deputy mayor, Diego José Jiménez, and the Culture and Festivities councillors, Alba Jiménez and Daniel Muñoz respectively, have met to assess the current situation in the municipality regarding the incidence of covid.

The municipal officials, taking into account the statistics and the guidelines of the experts, acting under the criteria of the health authorities, and in accordance with the minutes of the Temporary Committee for High-Impact Public Health Alerts in the province of Málaga, which prohibit festivals and open-air dances (verbenas), have decided to cancel the Santa Ana fair, in order to avoid situations that could lead to infections.

In permanent contact with the Health District and supra-municipal bodies, and with the municipality in phase 3, the local government, with the priority of protecting the health of residents, has decided to cancel the fair, with the exception of the concerts that have been contracted for later dates.

Since the start of the pandemic, the Governing Team has been extremely scrupulous and responsible with the health measures imposed, and so, regretting this setback, the Santa Ana festivities are cancelled.

Mass in honour of the patron saint of Manilva, as a parish event, will depend on how the incidence develops. However, advance notice will be given.

In due course, and always under the guidelines of the competent authorities, details will be made public of the readjustment of the municipal programme and the possibilities of holding it at a later date.
