Organised by the Culture department, with the collaboration of the Cofradía de Nuestra Señora de los Dolores y Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno de Manilva, the Manilva romería (a traditional pilgrimage festival) will take place on 4 and 5 June at the emblematic setting of the Ermita de los Baños de la Hedionda.

On Saturday, at 10:30, Holy Mass and the Blessing of the Pilgrim will be held at the Iglesia de Santa Ana. Afterwards, the statue of Nuestra Señora de Fátima will be taken from the church to the Ermita San Adolfo, accompanied by the Peña Caballista de Manilva and the Club Senderista “Los Kruos”. Once there, both Manilva Town Hall and the Peña Caballista will make the traditional floral offering to the Virgin, and the Holy Rosary will be recited inside the chapel.

That day, those attending the romería will be able to enjoy the traditional sopa campera (country soup) free of charge. At around 16:00 there will be music and dancing, with a concert by the group “En su punto” and a performance by Jessica Quiñones’ Expresión Corporal students.

At around 19:00, the group “Sonacai” will take to the stage to entertain those present and, from 22:00, a DJ will play music into the early hours.

On Sunday 5 June, at 13:00, the Romería Holy Mass in honour of Nuestra Señora de Fátima will take place, sung by the Choir of the Escuela Municipal de Música de Manilva. During the day, the bar will prepare a paella for anyone who wishes to eat, at affordable prices. In the afternoon there will be tortas fritas (fried dough) with chocolate.

It should be noted that the proceeds from the bar will go to the Cofradía de Manilva.

From 16:00, the group “Compás Flamenco” will perform to bring the Manilva romería to a close.

The Culture councillor, Alba Jiménez, encourages residents to enjoy one of the town’s most traditional events.
