The 59-year-old British national is accused of diverting around £30,000 from the company he worked for. The investigation was carried out by the Royal Gibraltar Police Economic Crime Unit.

A 59-year-old man of British nationality and resident in Manilva has been charged with alleged fraud and money laundering offences following an investigation by the Royal Gibraltar Police (RGP).

According to information released by the Gibraltar authorities, the case began in April 2026, when a local company filed a complaint after suspecting that one of its employees was diverting company funds into a personal bank account.

The investigation was handled by the Economic Crime Unit (ECU), whose officers examined the transactions linked to the reported events.

Allegedly diverted £30,000

The inquiries suggest that the employee allegedly appropriated approximately £30,000 sterling, an amount he is believed to have transferred from the company’s accounts and subsequently used.

The man was arrested over his alleged involvement in the events and, following police proceedings, he faces charges relating to fraud by abuse of position and the use of property derived from criminal activity.

The suspect is due to appear before the Gibraltar courts this Thursday, where he will have to answer the charges brought against him.

Gibraltar Police step up the fight against economic crime

A spokesperson for the Royal Gibraltar Police stressed that this investigation is part of the Economic Crime Unit’s ongoing efforts to combat financial crime, clarify reports of fraud and money laundering, and bring suspects in such offences before the courts.

Being charged does not amount to a finding of guilt. It will be for the courts to determine the defendant’s responsibility on the basis of the evidence and the judicial process.
