Manilva PSOE condemns the "deterioration" of Andalusian public healthcare

-

Manilva PSOE held a regional meeting on healthcare this Friday at the Casa del Pueblo in the town, where Socialist representatives analysed the current state of public healthcare in Andalusia and expressed their concern about what they consider a deterioration of the health system.

The event was attended by the PSOE Málaga secretary for Health and Consumer Affairs, Carmen Martín; the secretary general of Manilva PSOE, Francisco Becerra; and the secretary for Territorial Coordination of the Costa del Sol, Emma Molina.

During the meeting, the Socialist representatives criticised the health policies of the PP government in the Junta de Andalucía, claiming that they are causing longer waiting lists, a reduction in healthcare professionals and greater overcrowding in health centres and hospitals. They also pointed out that referrals to private healthcare are increasing.

The PSOE argued that public healthcare must remain one of the fundamental pillars of the welfare system and warned of the risk that the service could become increasingly inaccessible for some of the public.

In this regard, Francisco Becerra stressed that «public healthcare must be an absolute political priority» and warned that «we cannot allow a system that guarantees equality and healthcare for everyone to be weakened».

The Socialists said they will continue to denounce what they consider cuts, a lack of professionals and decisions that, in their view, harm the Andalusian public health system.
