Manilva calls a competition to award three new taxi licences, two of them for adapted vehicles

-

Manilva Town Hall has approved the rules for awarding three new taxi licences in the municipality, with the aim of expanding the service and meeting the mobility needs of the population, including those of people with reduced mobility.

According to mayoral resolution 2026-1822, dated 7 October 2026, the competition covers two licences for adapted vehicles, one with nine seats and the other with seven, and a third for a non-adapted seven-seater vehicle.

The Town Hall requires applicants to have at least five years of experience as a taxi driver in the municipality. Successful applicants must keep the licence in operation for a minimum of five years.

The call therefore reflects the needs raised by the associations Luisana and Afesol, as well as by the Fundación Aprona, organisations that work with people with reduced mobility and had passed their demands on to the Town Hall.

Five years of experience as a taxi driver in Manilva

The rules set out specific conditions for taking part in the competition. Applicants must be employed drivers of taxi licence holders in the municipality of Manilva, hold a valid municipal driver’s certificate and prove a minimum of five years of experience in the profession.

In addition, the following may not apply: those who are retired under the conditions set out in the rules, those who are direct or indirect holders of a taxi licence, or those who have held one in the five years prior to the application. Also excluded are those who have voluntarily left their work as employed taxi drivers in Manilva and have remained inactive for a year or more.

Experience will determine the order of award

The main assessment criterion will be proven experience providing taxi services in Manilva, which will be calculated from contribution reports and Social Security documentation.

In the event of a tie, account will be taken of hours of training related to the taxi service and of licences to drive passenger and goods transport vehicles obtained during the last five years. If the tie persists, consideration will be given to how close the applicant’s home is to the municipality, how long they have held the municipal driver’s certificate and driving licences, and the points on their driving licence.

The procedure provides that at least one of the licences awarded must be for an adapted vehicle. The choice will be made following the order of scoring set out in the rules.

Fifteen days to submit applications

Interested people who meet the requirements must submit their application using the form included in the rules, accompanied by identification documents, a valid driving licence, the municipal driver’s certificate and the employment history report. In the latter, they must identify the companies for which they have worked as taxi drivers in Manilva, stating the name of the holder and the corresponding licence number.

The deadline for submission will be fifteen days from the publication of the notice on the municipal noticeboard, which took place today.

Once the application period has ended, the Town Hall will publish the list of admitted applicants. From that publication, another fifteen-day period will open for submitting objections.

Those awarded licences will have thirty days from notification to prove that they meet the requirements and to provide the documentation needed to carry out the activity.

Finally, the rules require the licence to be kept in operation by its holder for a minimum of five years from the date of award, with no possibility of transferring it to another person through a transfer between living persons.

The full rules and the application form can be consulted on the Manilva Town Hall Electronic Office.
