The mayor of Manilva, Mario Jiménez, went to the notary’s office today to sign the purchase of the land on which the town’s fairground is located.
The land has been acquired from its legitimate owners, Soluciones de Vanguardia S.L, for €339,989.04.
A few weeks ago the matter was brought to a council meeting to authorise the mayor to carry out the transaction. Following the signing, the fairground, located on the carretera del río, becomes municipal property, as the mayor explained. He said he was very satisfied with the work carried out to make this a reality.
It should be recalled that the Town Hall took possession of the land some years ago, and in 2004 invested more than €5 million in preparing the ground and creating the fairground as we know it. However, it is only now that ownership has been definitively acquired and the process closed.
Municipal technicians are already finalising the project for the site, which is none other than a large leisure and sports area, with multi-sport courts and facilities for residents to enjoy.
As for the traditional Sunday flea market, municipal officials are studying how to fit it in alongside the new use so that it can also resume.
