A vocation for service, a commitment to humanity, a passion for the job and a spirit of dedication to others are virtues that could be attributed to Jair Pereira and Paco Coronado, professional firefighters stationed in Manilva, who together with eight other people are travelling to the Ukrainian border to carry out humanitarian work.

On this occasion they are not doing so as part of their work with the Consorcio Provincial de Bomberos de Málaga (the Málaga Provincial Fire Consortium), as they did recently with the volcano on La Palma. Yesterday, together with 8 other people, Jair and Coronado set off at 20:00 in a convoy on their own initiative to help Maydan (an association of Ukrainians living on the Costa del Sol). The convoy is made up of 4 vans loaded with essential supplies to be handed over to people fleeing the Russian attacks at the border with Poland.

The mission has a second aim: they intend to find eleven Ukrainians in difficulty who have relatives on the Costa del Sol and bring them to Málaga. The journey is expected to reach its destination between Wednesday and Thursday, and they plan to return next weekend if all goes to plan.
