Izquierda Unida has filed a complaint with the local Electoral Board over the party planned for today at the recently refurbished Parque de La Colonia. According to Agustín Vargas, Izquierda Unida candidate, speaking to this newsroom: «We are not against its reopening, we think the sooner it opens for our little ones to enjoy the better, but we considered that unfair competition was being created with our campaign closing rally».
This «Diviértete en los Parques» party, which has been held throughout the term of office in the different parks of the municipality, was scheduled to take place at 18:00, one hour before the rally that Vargas’s party will hold this afternoon in the plaza Vicente Espinel in Sabinillas at 19:00.
The Electoral Board has once again sided with Izquierda Unida, and the Parks and Gardens department, headed by councillor Francisco Becerra, has decided to open the park for the children to enjoy but to cancel the scheduled party. The park is now open to the public.
