The local schools Maicandil, San Luis and Pablo Picasso, together with the Education department headed by Daniel Muñoz, have created the 1st Intercentre Sports League of Manilva.
This follows a meeting held this week between the parties involved in this new sporting and educational project, which aims to promote healthy lifestyle habits, coexistence among peers, and social and civic values, as well as to create a bond between pupils ahead of their next academic stage in secondary school.
The League focuses on alternative and lesser-known sports such as Datchball, similar to dodgeball, and Colpbol, a team sport that involves invading a specific area. According to the organisers, the teams will be mixed and will be inclusive and cooperative in nature, with this taking precedence over competition.
The calendar for the 1st Intercentre League will consist of four rounds, held in the morning, one at each school and the last at the town’s municipal facilities. The first round will take place on Thursday 23 February at Colegio San Luis de Sabinillas.
This initiative was proposed by Colegio San Luis, and has received a positive response from the other schools and from the Education department of Manilva Town Hall.
