The Diputación de Málaga will fund two new Senda Litoral projects in Manilva and Casares with 446,000 euros. At its most recent meeting, the provincial institution’s Governing Board approved transferring to the two town halls the amounts needed to carry out the works.

Firstly, it approved allocating 281,413.91 euros to Manilva Town Hall for the section of the Senda Litoral between the Martagina stream and the Playa Paraíso development. The total length of the project is 670.49 metres, providing a continuous pedestrian route and helping the environmental regeneration of the area, with priority given to preserving the Playas de Manilva ecological reserve. Work will be carried out over a total of 5,500 square metres, with environmental regeneration on 3,487 square metres through clearing and planting of native species.

With this in mind, it has been decided to route the path along the existing track, which is in very poor condition and is often blocked by vehicles, in order to intervene as little as possible in the ecological reserve area. It will be three metres wide and the work will consist of upgrading and restoring the existing surface where required.

Secondly, the Diputación’s Governing Board gave the green light to a transfer of 164,654.65 euros to Casares Town Hall for a section between Torre de la Sal and the La Parrilla stream, which is 140.64 metres long and includes an 18-metre-long, three-metre-wide footbridge. It will replace the previous one over the stream, which was only a metre and a half wide.

A three-metre-wide pedestrian path will be created using eco-friendly paving, alongside which a linear strip of native vegetation will be laid out. Likewise, with the change to the route of the current promenade, 650 square metres of beach will be recovered, 352 square metres of which will be replanted, next to the seafront promenade, in front of the Playa Chica development.

The works are expected to take four weeks.
