The Government Team is very aware of the need to considerably improve the infrastructure related to the electricity supply, as continual power cuts in the municipality cannot be allowed or accepted.

To this end, meetings are frequently held with Endesa, the company responsible for this service and its maintenance, so that it invests in the infrastructure needed to minimise this problem.

At the latest meeting held by the mayor, Mario Jiménez, and the Infrastructure and Works councillor, Diego José Jiménez, with Endesa representatives, they demanded that solutions be offered.

In fact, as the councillor, Diego José Jiménez, reported this morning, the Infrastructure and Works department, together with the technicians in the area, has identified, on its own judgement, although it does not have full knowledge of Endesa’s networks, the points that are causing the most problems. For this reason, work has already begun with the lowering of cabling in the Barriada de los Pescadores and calle José Cadalso in Sabinillas, always on technical advice.

Work is also under way on the transformer located at the fairground and on the stretch of medium-voltage ducting that runs along the Camino de Estepona to the centre of Manilva, one of the areas with the most problems.

Work is also planned and is already being negotiated with Endesa for the removal of electricity cabling on the Circunvalación de La Pedreta and Monteviñas.

The electricity distributor has also been told of the need to relieve the load on the transformer located on calle Marqués de Larios in Sabinillas, which is very old, and a way of redistributing these lines is being sought.

To solve this problem completely, as the head of municipal infrastructure indicated, the construction of the electricity substation is necessary. It should have a specific line guaranteeing supply, both in the urban centres and in the residential developments spread across the length and breadth of the municipality.

The budget Endesa faces is high, at around €700,000, and the Town Hall continues to insist constantly on the need to carry out this work.
