The health delegate, Carlos Bautista, visited Manilva this morning for a friendly meeting with the mayor of Manilva, Mario Jiménez, with whom he has an excellent relationship.
The delegate said that personal contact with municipal leaders and a good understanding with local authorities is essential, regardless of political colour.
Bautista made it clear that he has a friendship with Manilva’s mayor, which means the mayor’s concerns are also his own, above any ideology. For that reason, this morning he travelled to Manilva, where he had a coffee with the mayor and they went on to discuss the municipality’s health problems with a view to finding solutions as soon as possible.
Speaking to the microphones of RTV Manilva, Mario Jiménez said that since Bautista took the reins of the health department he has always kept in direct contact with him, and that this contact has increased because of the pandemic. He thanked him for his commitment to the municipalities, as in previous periods he had not noticed such closeness from the provincial and regional administrations.
Jiménez reiterated the importance of continuing to maintain good relations with all administrations, for the good of residents, and said that ways of working together will be sought to improve healthcare for local people.
Before finishing, the delegate wanted to send an important message based on the latest data on Covid-19. He said that vaccination is absolutely necessary and argued that the WHO has calculated that between now and summer 700,000 people will die in Europe from coronavirus, while the German health minister has stated publicly and bluntly that by that date people will be vaccinated, cured or dead.
He therefore recalled that the Junta de Andalucía will shortly begin vaccinating children aged 5 to 11, that the third dose has already been given to the over-70s in our region, that vaccination of the over-60s has already begun, and that in approximately 2 months the third dose will begin to be given to the over-40s.
This is not the first time Bautista has stressed the importance of getting vaccinated in Manilva; he did so a few days ago during his visit to the municipality’s health centres.
