As part of its fight against drug trafficking and organised crime in the province of Málaga, the Guardia Civil has carried out several operations in recent weeks that have resulted in the seizure of 400 jerry cans of petrol —around 10,000 litres— and six inflatable boats used to supply fuel to high-speed narco-boats. The operations took place in the municipalities of Casares, Estepona and Manilva.
In three of the incidents, the Operational Services Centre (COS) of the Málaga Command detected several vessels used by drug trafficking organisations approaching the coast to refuel from smaller boats. After activating the Provincial Maritime Service, officers managed to thwart the manoeuvres: those involved abandoned the boats, leaving the fuel intended for the narco-boats inside.
In two other operations, officers from the Marbella Guardia Civil Company and from the Fiscal and Border Patrol (PAFIF) of Estepona and Torremolinos seized the fuel when it was already prepared for transport in Puerto de la Duquesa, in Manilva, and on the Estepona coast.
During these operations, three stolen vehicles were also recovered, which the criminals intended to use to transport the petrol cans. Investigations continue to identify and arrest those responsible for the logistics of supplying the narco-boats operating in the area.
