It has been too many months without being able to see family and friends, without being able to go to second homes, and the time has come to regain our freedom, but with great caution. Juanma Moreno.

The Andalusian regional government’s Committee of Experts met on Tuesday 27 April to take new decisions on the measures and restrictions in the region to contain the pandemic. As had been announced during the week, and given the improvement in the statistics across Andalucía, it has been decided to lift several restrictions currently in force that affect movement between provinces and the opening hours of shops and bars.

These are the measures that will apply in Andalucía from Thursday:

Movement within Andalucía

– The eight Andalusian provinces are open to movement again.

Movement outside Andalucía

– The perimeter closure of Andalucía remains in place, so nobody will be able to travel to another region without a justified reason.

Curfew

– The curfew remains in force from 23:00 until 6:00.

Opening hours

– Non-essential services may close at 22:30 in all municipalities, except those exceeding the rate of 1,000 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

Bars

– Bars may admit customers until 22:30 and extend their closing time until 23:00, provided the curfew set for that time is respected.

Gatherings

– Rules on gatherings remain as they were. They are limited to six people outdoors and four indoors.

Infection rates

The system of infection rates remains in place, and will continue to determine which towns are subject to perimeter lockdown (more than 500 cases per 100,000 inhabitants) and which must close their non-essential businesses (more than 1,000 per 100,000).

The state of alarm ends on 9 May. From that day on, Juanma Moreno admits that he does not know «what will happen», although he has already put some suggestions to the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez. The regional leader is calling on the central government to authorise people who are immunised to move freely with a vaccination passport like the one the regional government launched months ago. The so-called coronavirus vaccination certificate, which can be used to prove the much-longed-for immunity, is a ‘passport’ available to Andalusians who have already received both doses of the vaccine.
