The head of the Hermandad de la Virgen del Carmen de San Luis de Sabinillas (the Virgen del Carmen Brotherhood), Johanna Ledesma, together with the members of the board, unveiled the poster that marks the start of the celebration in honour of the patron saint of seafarers.
The work, produced in pastel sticks and pencils on Pastelmat paper by the artist Juan Galeote, measures 70×50. According to the artist’s description, it shows the Virgen del Carmen with the Child Jesus in the sky over Sabinillas, and, above the sea, the men and women who carry her each year on their boats and sail along the coast of our town.
The programme planned by the Brotherhood, headed by this beautiful artwork, opens inside with a greeting from the board. It also lists all the events planned for the celebration, as well as each and every one of the Queens and Ladies, from 2020 to this year, 2022.
The liturgical services will take place from 21:00 on 13, 14 and 15 July at the Church of Sabinillas, and on the 16th of this month a Mass will be held in the Plaza Costa del Sol, in the Barrio de los Pescadores.
At 12:00 the presentation of medals to the new members of the Brotherhood is planned, along with the crowning of the Queens and the presentation of sashes to the Ladies, including the recognition of the Reina Mayor, who has not yet been announced.
On that same day, the image will be embarked at 18:30, while the procession through the streets of Sabinillas will begin at 20:30.
The open-air party will close with music from DJ Pájaro from 22:00 and, to finish, from 00:00 the group Compás Flamenco will perform.
During the evening a bar with affordable prices will be set up.
The Fiestas and Culture departments of Manilva Town Hall are collaborating in this event.
