The Fiestas department, headed by Daniel Muñoz, announces the election of Queens, Ladies & Misters for the August fair.

The rules governing this election, in both the children’s and youth categories, are as follows:

1. Only persons on the municipal register (padrón) of the Municipality of Manilva may enter the competition.

2. Candidates must have been born in 2012 for the children’s category, and from 2004 onwards for the youth category.

3. The registration period will be open from 25 April until 18 May at 15:00, during which applications may be submitted. In both the children’s and the youth categories, those chosen will be one Mister and four finalists in the male category, and one queen and four ladies in the female category.

4. The registration form must be submitted to the Fiestas department, located at C/ Mar, No. 34, and must be accompanied by a photocopy of the DNI (national identity card) and, for those under the age of 18, authorisation to take part from their parents or legal guardians.

5. The jury taking part in the competition will be approved by the Fiestas department and will be made up of the president and four other members, appointed by Manilva Town Hall. All of them will have a voice and a vote in the election. In the event of a tie, the president’s vote will count double.

6. The jury will make an assessment based on the knowledge and aptitudes shown during the competition, as well as any other qualities that help it to determine the Ladies, Queens and Misters of the August Fair, in the youth category.

7. In accordance with the previous article, this must under no circumstances be considered a beauty contest alone, and the president of the jury will pay particular attention to ensuring that this is fully respected, guaranteeing equal opportunities.

8. The election in the children’s category will be made by a public draw in which all participants will take part, each drawing a slip of paper from the urn which will indicate whether they have been chosen.

9. People related to the participants by blood, up to the second degree, may not form part of the jury.

10. The jury will announce those chosen publicly.

11. The competition, in both its categories and age groups, will take place on 20 May, and each participant may wear whatever attire they see fit, with no obligation. The venue will be announced well in advance of the event.

12. The Queens, Ladies and Misters will be required to attend those official events for which they are called upon by Manilva Town Hall. Repeated failure to comply with this rule without justified cause may result in the loss of their status as Queen, Lady or Mister respectively.

13. The prizes awarded will be a flamenco dress for each of the Ladies and Queens chosen, in both the children’s and youth categories. This dress will be the attire they must wear on the day of their coronation, as well as at the various events in which they are to take part, which will be announced beforehand.
The Misters chosen will be given a voucher, which must be exchanged for a cash prize at the finance department of Manilva Town Hall. They must wear a suit on the day of the coronation and may wear smart casual dress for the parades.

14. Any circumstance not covered by these rules will be interpreted by the jury at its own discretion, and its decision will be final.

15. Participation implies full acceptance of each and every one of these rules. Those who were chosen in previous years at the 2017, 2018 and 2019 patron saint fairs, as well as in earlier editions of the “August Fair”, may not take part.
In the male category, in addition to accepting the rules, all candidates who wish to may enter, within their age group, except those chosen at the “August Fair” of 2016.

16. The participants, or their parents where applicable, grant the organiser, free of charge and for a period of five years, the rights to use, publish and reproduce images or videos in which they appear, by any means the organiser considers appropriate, without any right to payment.

17. The organisation reserves the right to add new rules, to change the programme or any registration in whole or in part, and to take new initiatives, even if not covered by these rules, that contribute to the greater success and smooth running of the competition.
