Digitalising processes to improve efficiency in public services is the way forward. For this reason, Hidralia, the company that manages the full water cycle in Manilva, in close collaboration with the Town Hall, continues to introduce resources in every area of its activity in order to provide a better service to residents.
A clear example is the monitoring of the municipality’s water abstraction points, which is being carried out using state-of-the-art tools such as Well Watch.
Well Watch is a technological tool that allows the conditions of the abstraction points to be monitored in real time. It tracks a number of key parameters to check that they are working properly, such as indicators of the quantity and quality of the aquifers, the specific flow of the wells, the ratios of the pumping equipment and real-time operating parameters, including the depth of the water level, the instantaneous pumping flow, energy consumption and wellhead pressure.
The platform has a web server that stores the information provided by the instrumentation and monitoring, making it possible to carry out an analysis that gives the real results of how the system is performing.
Advanced management of groundwater abstraction points with Well Watch makes it possible to optimise operations and make them much more efficient, which leads to a rational use of the aquifers that is more sustainable and respectful of the environment. It also guarantees supply by reducing the impact of foreseeable breakdowns or incidents, and combines a series of activities ranging from initial diagnosis to real-time control and monitoring with specific software developed in-house.
The councillor for Infrastructure and Works, Diego José Jiménez, explained: “These new control systems make it possible to monitor aquifer levels and avoid problems such as seawater intrusion into the aquifer itself, which would make the water unusable, all through processes that are respectful of the environment,” he said.
The use of this digital tool in Manilva’s wells is in addition to expert hydrogeological assistance and the maintenance of these abstraction points through the AquaFreed and AquaGard processes, which allow boreholes to be cleaned and maintained using green technology applied with liquid CO2.
