La UTE Relima, led by FCC Medio Ambiente, will bring in 18 electric vehicles, including auxiliary vehicles, sweeping tricycles and supervision vans, along with a large amount of electric machinery. This is a further step in the introduction of e-mobility in these services, with a major positive environmental impact in terms of polluting emissions and noise, carbon footprint reduction and energy efficiency. In addition, all the machinery under this contract will be newly purchased.

For the collection of more than 9,200 tonnes of waste a year, a fleet of six vehicles will be available, including refuse collection vehicles, container-washing vehicles and auxiliary vehicles. Of note is the changeover from a rear-loading system to a bilateral-loading one, which has the advantage of making better use of supplementary staff. This has meant an investment in 223 bilateral-loading containers in order to adapt them to the new system.

As for the street cleaning service, to serve the municipality’s nearly 16,000 inhabitants, 145 kilometres of streets will be covered and a fleet of 22 vehicles is planned, made up of auxiliary vehicles, sweeping tricycles and sweepers.

The contract will have a workforce of 50 people and, on the social side, it is worth noting that 14 labourer posts have been reserved for people with disabilities, who will be hired through FCC Equal (a partner in the UTE). In addition, to coincide with the start of the new services and so that residents are fully aware of them and their features, an initial campaign will be held to launch and present them and, after that, awareness-raising campaigns for residents will be held every year.

The contract also introduces the novelty that the services will be managed through the VISION computer platform, developed exclusively by FCC Medio Ambiente. This platform makes it possible to turn operators into information carriers, so that any incident that occurs can easily be picked up immediately. One of the platform’s most useful tools is the VISION2 mobile app, adapted so that incidents can be recorded and reported in real time, as well as serving as a tool for inspecting the service itself. The VISION Platform offers a wide range of options for submitting incident reports, suggestions and/or complaints, and is designed to offer this possibility to all the parties involved and to users of the service.
