The works to extend the San Luis de Sabinillas school are clearly behind schedule, amid silence and a lack of clarity from the governing team, which regularly visited the site and reported on the good pace of the works from the start until last month, since when there has been complete silence as the school year begins.
We recall that on 11 June we were informed by press release that «The Town Hall does not want to lose sight of the weekly pace of work, as it wishes to meet the completion deadlines, estimated for the end of August.«
They added: «The municipal officials agreed on the need for these works to be finished for the coming school year, in order to do right by the pupils of this school, so that they can receive the best education in the best facilities.»
On 23 July they visited the school again and once more insisted that the deadlines were being met: «Jiménez, who is always attentive to the progress of the works under way in the town and usually visits them regularly, continues to hold these meetings in order to monitor both compliance with the established deadlines and the budget set out in this tender.
The pace of the works, in this case, is the one projected from the outset.»
In August no further information has been given, but it is clear from the state of the works (see the photo attached to this report, taken yesterday) that the deadlines announced to us have not been met, and that these have been defended despite the slowness with which the works have been carried out from practically the very beginning.
The works consist of extending the school with five more classrooms and creating an open-plan space for various uses, such as a theatre, a shared activity area or other types of events, all with a new exterior exit.
