Dawn has broken in El Goleto with the fire extinguished after a sleepless night for the fire crews and security forces who remained in the area.
Some 300 people were evacuated as a precaution on Monday because of the fire that broke out in Manilva (Málaga), most of them guests at the Manilva Sun hotel and around 30 residents of the El Goleto housing estate. Some of those homes were affected by the fire, and their residents were unable to return all night as a precaution because of the amount of smoke across the area.

Fortunately, nobody was injured and, following a technical assessment of the buildings, the evacuees have been authorised to return, both to the hotel, which happened at around 10 pm, and to their homes, which they were able to access this morning. Some of the homeowners were rehoused by the Town Hall in the same hotel.

The fire started at around 18:25 and prompted more than 40 calls to 112, which led to the emergency services being mobilised.

The Consorcio Provincial de Bomberos de Málaga (the Málaga provincial fire service), the Andalusian forest firefighting service (Infoca), the Empresa Pública de Emergencias Sanitarias (EPES), the Guardia Civil, the Local Police and Civil Protection were all alerted, and Civil Protection personnel attended to the evacuees.
