The culture department of Manilva Town Hall, according to councillor Alba Jiménez, will celebrate Dance Day on Friday 29 April at the auditorium in Parque del Duque, starting at 19:00.

Since 1982, on the initiative of the International Dance Committee, UNESCO has proclaimed 29 April as International Dance Day. The date chosen is the birthday of the dancer and choreographer Jean-Georges Noverre.

To mark the day, the dance students of the municipal school have prepared a special programme, ranging from music and movement to advanced level and covering all specialities: flamenco, contemporary, Spanish classical dance and ballet, as well as choreographic workshops. The students’ ages range from 4 years old to adults.

A variety of pieces in different styles will be performed, prepared by the teachers Cristina Seguín, Eva Cabrera and Maite Zarco.

The advanced group will perform some of its pieces with live music provided by teachers from the Municipal Music School.
