The mayor and head of the Public Safety department, Mario Jiménez, has held an important meeting with the head of Civil Protection, Iván Quirós, to discuss a number of matters of interest that will benefit residents.

These meetings, which are held regularly, are based on the coordination required between the Civil Protection unit itself, the Town Hall, the Local Police and the Fire Service.

It should be noted that Civil Protection currently has fourteen volunteers, with four more due to join.

The service provided since the start of the pandemic to help older people and those in need remains in place, so any dependent resident can contact the Social Services department on 603614945/619724996 and ask for food or medicines to be brought to them.

The Municipal Self-Protection Plan was also discussed, and the final details have been completed.

Quirós, who publicly thanked the mayor for his willingness to help, passed on the unit’s needs regarding improvements to its facilities, to which the Town Hall has responded positively.

As for the objectives for 2021, volunteer training will be key, along with improving logistics and emergency plans.

One innovation will be the setting up of a temporary shelter for urgent or emergency cases, with beds, blankets, a field kitchen, etc.
