Compromiso calls for greater reinforcement of security

-

The Compromiso Manilva Municipal Group has submitted two motions on security in the municipality. One is a motion to be debated at the council meeting on 6 June, calling for new officers to be added to the Manilva Local Police force and, through this, for public safety in the municipality to be strengthened.

The second motion calls for the reinforcement and effective staffing of the main Guardia Civil post in Sabinillas.

«It is important that all municipal groups seek consensus on something as important to our residents as public safety. With these motions we are not looking for political disputes, but to reach agreement and find the unanimous support of the council meeting to solve the serious security problems in our municipality,» said the CM spokesperson, Mario Jiménez.

Regarding the Local Police motion, it asks that the three retirements in the municipal workforce in 2024 be used to create a replacement rate.

Compromiso Manilva also asks that the replacement rate and the new public employment offer for 2025 be used to create four new civil servant posts in the Local Police.

These requests are accompanied by a call to include these four posts in the 2025 budget and budgetary staffing table, and to promote in 2025 the call for a competitive examination (concurso oposición) for four Local Police posts.

The Compromiso Manilva spokesperson, Mario Jiménez, stressed that «in the previous term of office four new Local Police posts were created and took up their duties in 2021, after 13 years without a single post being advertised».

In the Guardia Civil motion, Compromiso Manilva urges that a Local Security Board be convened urgently with the Government sub-delegate and the commander in charge of the Marbella area. «It is necessary to assess public safety in Manilva and analyse the current situation regarding the number of officers in the municipality,»

The Ministry of the Interior, in this case the Directorate-General of the Guardia Civil, is also asked to provide the effective and real staffing that the main post in Sabinillas is entitled to, «something we have been asking for for years, and even more so since we were in the municipal government».

Finally, Compromiso Manilva calls on the Directorate-General of the Guardia Civil to sign a collaboration agreement with the Town Hall for the extension of the barracks and its staffing, and also to request a certificate of approved personnel for the main post in Manilva.
