At an event held in Seville, the entire Government Team of the Junta de Andalucía and the technical staff of Civil Protection of that supra-municipal body congratulated the local Manilva unit for its role in the COVID-19 crisis, and in recognition of that merit it has been awarded the Gold Medal for Merit of Civil Protection of Andalusia.

According to those responsible: «You have carried out admirable and exceptional work throughout the entire lockdown. Your fellow citizens have felt protected, they have felt the helping hand you extended to them in times as difficult as those we have been through. And, above all, they have not felt alone. The public has recognised the extraordinary work you have done. For that reason, the award published in the Boletín Oficial de la Junta de Andalucía is no more than a reflection of Andalusian society’s recognition of all the Civil Protection volunteers who were present in the most delicate moments.

In the coming weeks they will also receive the medal at provincial level, adding to the merits of a group of volunteers who give their time and effort to improving the quality of life of residents.

For his part, the mayor of Manilva, Mario Jiménez, who is ultimately responsible for public safety, wishes to publicly congratulate this fine unit, encouraging them to continue with the very important work they carry out in our town.
