In light of the situation we are witnessing in Ukraine, CCManilva is launching an event in solidarity with all those affected and in defence of PEACE. The local sports club says «There is little we can do, but we will at least try to unite all our hearts so that they beat strongly in solidarity during each of the 4 virtual stages that we are proposing through different parts of Ukraine itself using the Bkool app.»
It will be a small league of 4 stages to be completed from 20 to 31 March on the indoor cycling platform Bkool, which will simulate the routes in 3D or show a map of the route as it unfolds. The time of day and the order are left to each participant’s choice. Anyone who wishes to take part simply needs a smart trainer with an active subscription to the platform and to join the CCManilva group by clicking here, so that the 4 proposed stages appear automatically in the simulator, and then complete them between 20 and 31 March.
The system will provide a ranking by stage and an overall ranking, but on this occasion neither position nor time taken will matter much.
One of the stages in this event will be «Round The Lake», which circles reactor 4 at Chernobyl, where the worst nuclear accident in history took place on 26 April 1986. The reactor is currently under a safe sarcophagus completed in 2016, and in 2023 it was expected that the radioactive material still inside the reactor would be removed.
Another stage will go through Chernihiv, a historic city in the north of Ukraine. On 27 February its recently renovated landmark building, the «Regional Youth Centre», renovated with an investment of 2 million dollars, was the target of an air strike that left it reduced to rubble.
