Manilva is set to have a top-class Carnival. The council chamber at the Town Hall has hosted the presentation of the poster for the 2022 edition of the Manilva Carnival.

Attending were the mayor of the town, Mario Jiménez; the head of the Culture department and organiser of the event, Alba Jiménez; and councillors Diego José Jiménez, the author of the poster itself, Juanjo González Luque, and the president of the Peña carnavalesca Los niños de Sabinillas, María Benítez.

The main attraction this year will be the presence of the Comparsa de Martínez Ares, «Una Comparsa miserable», making our carnival a genuine event, as we are talking about a figure of the highest standing.

Alba Jiménez, after two years without a carnival, said she was delighted to be able to resume this tradition and to fulfil a dream by having the leading figure in the carnival world, Antonio Martínez Ares.

The author of the poster, Juan José González, is a great carnival enthusiast and explained the details of his work, which surprised those present.

The mayor of Manilva congratulated the Culture department on this magnificent carnival, which will take place on 12 and 13 March.

In addition to the traditional costume contests, in their different categories, the performance by the Comparsa de Martínez Ares has been scheduled for 19:00 on 13 March in the marquee that will be set up in the Plaza de Los Maestros, on the Sabinillas seafront promenade.

Admission will be free and the safety measures in force at that time will be observed.
