Slipway service, a fuel pump, 24-hour security and mooring staff, laundry and shower facilities, a wide choice of restaurants and nautical activity companies, and even winter boat storage are some of the services that the Puerto Deportivo de La Duquesa offers sailors.
All of this is also recognised with the quality conferred by the Blue Flag award, which was officially raised today at the port. As well as the quality of the facilities and services that the marina offers, this award recognises compliance with a series of environmental and sustainability conditions in its management, which is also backed by the ISO 14001 standard certifying the port’s own environmental quality.
Attending the flag-raising ceremony on behalf of the Grupo Marinas del Mediterráneo, the company that manages the concession for Puerto de La Duquesa, were the CEO, Daniel Martín; the managing director, Manuel Raigón; and the director of Operations, Alejandro Suanes.
Manilva Town Hall was represented by its mayor, Mario Jiménez; the first deputy mayor, Diego José Jiménez; the Environment councillor, Laura López; and the Beaches councillor, Eva Galindo. Diego Hens, head of the Málaga-Poniente Zone at the Andalusian Public Ports Agency (APPA), was also present at the flag-raising.
Manuel Raigón highlighted the work carried out every day by all the staff at Puerto de La Duquesa, which results in recognition such as this. In addition, the port also offers personalised attention, a wide range of dining and leisure options and an ideal setting for family-oriented nautical activities.
Raigón said that the forecasts for the boating season at Puerto de La Duquesa are very positive, as people are keen to enjoy the sea and go sailing, an activity they consider safe because it can be done outdoors and under more restricted conditions.
In this regard, Daniel Martín, CEO of the Grupo Marinas del Mediterráneo, added that hiring a boat at the port can be within anyone’s reach and is an activity that is increasingly establishing itself as a way of enjoying safe nautical tourism.
For his part, the mayor of Manilva, Mario Jiménez, congratulated Marinas del Mediterráneo on achieving this award for another year and thanked the group for its work in giving great importance to the environment and quality at Puerto de La Duquesa.
The Blue Flag has been awarded for more than 30 years by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) and the Association for Environmental and Consumer Education (Adeac) in recognition of environmental quality, and is granted after a thorough assessment by ADEAC technicians of safety conditions at the facilities, environmental and water quality, sustainable management, services offered to users, social integration, and the educational and awareness-raising work of each port.
