The mayor of Manilva, Mario Jiménez, the Beaches councillor, Eva Galindo, and the Infrastructure councillor, Diego José Jiménez, have toured the coastline to assess the effects of the storm on our town.
Fortunately, there is no significant damage to report, beyond the build-up of reeds washed down by the river, the streams and the neighbouring municipalities themselves, as the easterly wind (levante) means the town has to deal with the total volume of material.
Immediately, weather permitting, the municipal teams will work flat out to restore the good appearance the beaches had in recent days, according to municipal officials.
In addition, from first thing this morning a municipal machine from the Public Works department has been working on the Manilva river to remove the reeds and anything else the water may have carried along at the various crossings linking both banks, so that it does not build up and the river does not burst its banks at any point on its way to the sea. This work will continue throughout the day.
The municipal authorities have urged caution when travelling along this road, as the weather forecast predicts that it will continue to rain in the municipality over the coming days.
