A total of 300 young people aged between 6 and 16 will enjoy a sporting and social experience over the summer

It will take place from 26 to 30 June in Cómpeta, Torrox and Manilva, with the participation of Unicaja Baloncesto players Salomé García Segura and Augusto Lima

A total of 300 young people aged between 8 and 16 from the province will take part in the Diputación de Málaga Summer Camps, to be held from 26 to 30 June in the municipalities of Manilva, Cómpeta and Torrox. Each municipality will host around one hundred participants.

Cristóbal Ortega, fourth vice-president and acting councillor for Sports, highlighted the importance and relevance of this camp, which already has a long history in the province. Cómpeta has held fourteen editions, Manilva thirteen, and Torrox has taken part for five years.

Ortega thanked the three town halls «for continuing to back this type of initiative, which consolidates the work of the Sports Schools and extends it by bringing the players together». He also took the opportunity to mention the Andalusian Basketball Federation, «which makes the smooth running of the Camp possible, and Unicaja Baloncesto for its involvement in these days, bringing top-level players together with the youngest participants».

This year, as something new, the camp is divided into two phases. The first is a teaching phase, applying basic technical fundamentals of basketball adapted to the age of each group. The second is a final meeting by way of closing event with Unicaja players Salomé García Segura and Augusto Lima, who will take part in matches and activities, as well as a shirt-signing and photo session with the young participants.
