The poster titled «Azulejos y bordados» (Tiles and Embroidery) has been chosen as the representative image for the Manilva 2025 Fairs and Festivities. The winning work evokes the essence of Andalusia and pays tribute to the patron saints of the municipality’s different areas in a design full of symbolism.

The author of the poster, Juan José González, has explained his inspiration, detailing how he has captured Manilva’s identity through traditional elements. First, the patron saints are depicted in chronological order of their festivities: the Virgen del Carmen, patron saint of the Castillo; Santa Ana de Manilva; and, finally, San Luis, patron saint of Sabinillas.

The base of the design is made up of hydraulic-style tiles, with an aged appearance that suggests the passage of time on a classic whitewashed façade. Against this background, embroidered carnations stand out, evoking the decoration of Manila shawls, so characteristic of flamenco dress at Andalusian fairs. The composition is completed by black lettering, reminiscent of traditional wrought-iron window grilles.

«In it I wanted to represent the patron saints of each area in a very Andalusian way, in chronological order…», the artist explained, highlighting his intention to fuse architectural, textile and handcrafted elements to create an image that resonates with the identity and traditions of Manilva.
