Manilva Local Police Headquarters will begin an awareness campaign on Monday, 3 May, to make pet owners aware of the mess caused by animal droppings and the need to remove them from public streets.
The mayor of Manilva, Mario Jiménez, and the Chief of the Local Police, Juan Montero, considered the campaign advisable after detecting an increase in this irresponsible behaviour, which has a negative impact on residents and creates a very poor image.
Although this is a matter known to everyone, the awareness campaign will carry with it the corresponding fine for anyone who ignores or disregards the regulations, which are set out in the municipal bylaws and oblige animal owners to clean up after their pets.
To this end, two officers will patrol on foot the busiest areas, such as the path, the promenade, the main streets of the town centres, parks and other areas where pets are walked.
As well as monitoring everyone’s responsibility to look after our surroundings, their cleanliness and their image, checks will also be made on the regulations required to keep dangerous or unleashed animals, as permits are needed, which can be processed at the Environment department.
