The new cultural association ARTEatro 13 was officially launched yesterday afternoon, as planned. The event took place at the Civima and drew a large turnout. Members of the municipal Corporation were present.
The initiative comes from a group of theatre enthusiasts, although the association extends its artistic scope to other disciplines such as music, film, painting, dance, crafts and literature.
As its founders explained, the aim is to promote culture in our town and to support the younger generations and anyone with an interest in the subject.
The mayor, Mario Jiménez, publicly committed at the event to providing the association with a headquarters, as will be done for all associations registered in the municipality as part of a major project that will be launched shortly.
For her part, the councillor responsible for Culture, Alba Jiménez, spoke warmly to this group of residents and offered them her support in anything they need and where the Town Hall can help.
Although around thirty people are already members of ARTEatro 13, the aim is to reach many more. To that end, the association will launch a membership drive, and new members will be able to join the group for just twenty euros a year.
This money will go towards a wide range of cultural and artistic activities planned by the association for the coming months, including book presentations, painting and writing masterclasses, a short story competition for teenagers and a theatre competition.
