Arrest made of suspected perpetrator of several burglaries in Manilva

-

The mayor of Manilva, Mario Jiménez, confirmed on Thursday, during the ordinary council meeting held today, the arrest of a person allegedly responsible for most of the burglaries recently recorded in the town, in a joint security operation.

The statement came after a question from the opposition about growing concern among residents over crimes against property, a situation which, he explained, has been addressed through coordinated and discreet work by the security forces.

During his address, the mayor said that plain-clothes patrols had been deployed by both the Guardia Civil and Manilva Local Police, a strategy that has produced positive results in a short space of time.

“I must say that plain-clothes patrols have been put in place, both from the Guardia Civil and the Local Police, and that today, this morning, it has borne fruit”, Jiménez stressed to the council meeting.

The mayor confirmed that the person arrested is believed to be linked to most of the burglaries that have taken place in recent weeks, and highlighted the “constant and highly professional” nature of the work carried out by officers to identify and subsequently arrest the suspect.

The arrest took place this morning at the alleged perpetrator’s home. The suspect is now at the disposal of the courts, according to the mayor, who limited himself to giving only these details out of respect for the ongoing legal process.
