Manilva Town Hall continues to make progress in the process of appointing the new head of the Local Police. The latest update comes with the publication of the provisional list of admitted and excluded applicants, a document which, in the interests of transparency, makes one thing clear: one candidate admitted and one excluded.
According to the official announcement, approved by decree of the Mayor’s Office on 26 March 2026, the process has a single admitted applicant: Francisco Javier González Herrera, while another candidate has been excluded for failing to meet one of the requirements set out in the terms of the selection process.
Few surprises and one brave candidate
The call for applications, which already stood out for its urgency, with just three days to submit applications, continues to move forward at a good pace. After the deadline closed, the provisional list confirms that the selection process does not appear to have been especially popular. Given that there is only one working day to submit objections, this strengthens the likelihood that the most likely candidate is the one announced on 4 March on the council’s social media channels, a few days before the selection process officially began.
The surprise comes from the brave Mr Miguel Jesús M. R., who decided to put himself forward for the post but who, unfortunately, «does not meet requirement 2.e) of the Bases» of the call for applications.
When the ending is known before the beginning
Days before the official call for applications was published, the Town Hall itself had already publicly announced that Francisco Javier González would be the new head of the Local Police, thereby revealing the outcome of a process that now continues its administrative course.
Transparency, but without suspense
The Town Hall is thus following the formal steps with full transparency: call for applications, submission of applications, list of admitted and excluded candidates, and period for objections. All of this is in line with the legal procedure, so the official result of the process should be known shortly.
