With the aim of officially accrediting the footpaths that run through the municipality of Manilva, a meeting has been held with footpath specialists from Málaga who are experienced in drawing up this type of project.

Manilva has a rich and extensive network of rural tracks within its municipal boundaries, including livestock routes such as the Cañada Real de Los Barrios a Estepona, the Vereda de la Cañada del Apartadero and the Vereda de San Roque and its surroundings, of which the Indiano resting place is of particular interest.

Launching this project means providing a legal framework and securing the use of some of the tracks and livestock routes for public leisure and recreation, so that they can be used for hiking, cycle touring, jogging or horse riding, among other activities.

Laura López, Councillor for the Environment department, identifies the main objectives of this initiative as the protection of the natural environment and the recovery of elements of cultural interest on municipal land, environmental education, and the promotion of the use of these tracks as alternative routes that meet the demand for spaces for recreational and leisure activities.
