At around 16:00 this afternoon, the Manilva Local Police intervened at a storage room in the Edificio Don Amaro in Sabinillas to seize 47 petacas (fuel containers) holding almost 1,000 litres of petrol, a dismantled semi-rigid boat of about 7 metres and an engine. The local fire brigade were the first to attend the scene, because of the danger posed by the accumulation of petrol in an enclosed space, and the Guardia Civil also attended.
For some days, residents had been noticing a strong smell of petrol on the ground floor of the building, without imagining that one of the storage rooms was being used to stockpile fuel, with the danger that this entails.
The operation is under investigation.
