The mayor of Manilva, Mario Jiménez, and the councillor for Infrastructure and Works, Diego José Jiménez, visited the seafront promenade in Sabinillas to check on the progress of the second phase of works, which began last week.
It should be remembered that the works are being carried out in three phases. The first, which has been completed, covered the remodelling of the street that leads to the plaza de Neptuno from calle Duquesa de Arcos and the plaza Costa del Sol.
The second phase affects a stretch of around 350 metres of the promenade, where work was halted before the summer and has now resumed. The third phase of the project received no bids when put out to tender because of rising prices in the construction sector, so the technical services of the Diputación Provincial de Málaga must modify the project to adapt it to the reality of costs and put it out to public tender again.
Municipal officials regret this situation, which is affecting countless projects, as rising energy and material prices are putting many of the country’s construction companies in difficulty, as the Confederación Nacional de la Construcción has reported.
In addition, the Town Hall is very clear that the works will be undertaken when possible, with absolute priority given to the business owners with premises on the seafront promenade and to local residents, as it is a matter of general interest.
Although information is already being provided, the governing team plans to hold a meeting with the traders to give them all the details, hear their concerns and questions, and ensure they continue to take part in municipal decisions.
