The third phase of the remodelling of the Paseo Marítimo de Sabinillas is under way, according to the Infrastructure and Works Department. The mayor, José Manuel Fernández, and the councillor for this area, Agustín Vargas, accompanied by municipal technicians, have inspected the section in progress to assess the safety preparations.
At the same time, municipal staff are removing the lighting, cabling and decorative elements from the establishments in the area, clearing the way for the start of the demolition of the paving.
During the visit, the opportunity was also taken to talk to the owners of the businesses that will be affected by the works. As had been announced, the renovation will include changes to the paving, with the use of smaller, fully joined tiles, dispensing with the metal guides found in previous sections.
Agustín Vargas announced that this phase, which will extend as far as the El Paseo beach bar, will be divided into four sections to minimise disruption to residents and traders.
Both officials said that the Town Hall will closely supervise each stage of the work to ensure an optimal finish.
According to the information provided by Infrastructure and Works and the company in charge of the work, the third phase is expected to be completed within six months.
