Antonio Marín, spokesman for the VOX Municipal Group in Manilva, has recalled that VOX has been requesting action on this road for more than three years.
The spokesman for the VOX Municipal Group in Manilva, Antonio Marín, has called for measures to improve safety on the A-377 following the accident on Tuesday 6 October, which left two people with minor injuries.
Marín has pointed out that VOX has been warning for more than three years about the situation on this road. «We have been warning of a worrying reality for more than three years. If urgent measures are not taken, it is only a matter of time before an accident with fatal consequences occurs«, he said.
The municipal spokesman also recalled that the actions put forward by VOX include the installation of adequate signage and illuminated warning signs, the placement of speed bumps, effective speed control and the complete resurfacing of the road with a non-slip surface.
Marín also explained that this year’s municipal budget included a sum earmarked specifically for improvement work on the A-377, but in the end, at the council meeting held on 6 August the governing team approved a budget amendment by which those funds, together with other money, were allocated to the construction of a football pitch.
«That money should have been spent on road safety on the A-377. The safety of residents and their families must be the priority», he concluded.
