Visit by the Junta's Government Delegate in Málaga

-

This morning the Junta de Andalucía’s government delegate in Málaga, Patricia Navarro, made an official visit to our town, where she met the mayor of the municipality, Mario Jiménez, the first deputy mayor, Diego José Jiménez, and the urban planning councillor, Marcos Ruiz.

Councillors Daniel Muñoz and Manolo Gil were also present at the reception at the doors of the Town Hall.

During this first meeting, Manilva’s mayor put several projects of importance for Manilva to the government delegate, such as the second secondary school and the semi-submerged breakwater in the Castillo area. The breakwater project has already been drawn up and is awaiting environmental authorisation from the Junta de Andalucía and coastal authorisation from the ministry answerable to the national government. These are two actions of vital importance for the residents of our municipality.

The need to introduce emergency medical services in Manilva was also discussed once again, services which the Town Hall continues to fund to this day.
Patricia Navarro said that the Junta intends to process the town’s second secondary school as soon as possible, given the overcrowding the current school is facing. She also referred to emergency medical services, saying that it is absolutely necessary to address this issue.

Regarding the problem in the Castillo area, she stressed that it is not solely the responsibility of the Junta, which will try to speed up the environmental permits, but also depends on the central government, which, under the current coastal law, is not giving efficient answers to this and other municipalities.

Manilva’s mayor, Mario Jiménez, thanked the delegate for her visit and asked for the regional body’s cooperation on these matters. He also referred to the importance of institutional relations for projects to move forward.

The first deputy mayor, Diego José Jiménez, spoke in the same terms and, once at the Castillo breakwater, expanded on the subject, saying that the established steps must be followed: first the environmental permits with the Junta, and then the coastal permits will have to be dealt with by the central government.

That being the case, it now remains to trust in the work of Navarro, who will set to work immediately so that the municipality can carry out the projects mentioned.
