Verdemar denounces lack of transparency at Manilva Town Hall

-

Verdemar–Ecologistas en Acción has repeated its request for information from Manilva Town Hall about the building work on the developments known as Blue Wave and Blue Marine, promoted by the company Metrovacesa in the Bahía Las Rocas housing estate, in the municipality of Manilva.

The group claims that Manilva Town Hall is breaching the Transparency Law by failing to provide the documentation requested on these developments, and warns of alleged planning and environmental irregularities that could have serious consequences for the area.
Verdemar–Ecologistas en Acción has requested information from the Planning department on several occasions without receiving a reply. Among the anomalies identified is the construction of a track next to the water tank that supplies the whole estate, which completely encroaches on its safety perimeter.

During a recent visit, the environmentalists found that vehicles and machinery are still using this track, despite its possible illegality. «We understand this is an irregularity and the Town Hall is not intervening or taking any measures. We do not know what interests there are in looking the other way, or why the municipal Planning officials remain inactive», Verdemar has stated.

The group also warns that some of the works encroach on the Public Hydraulic Domain and that discharges of water and materials end up reaching the sea, specifically Cala de la Sardina, which could represent a serious environmental impact on the coastline.
It also reports the constant movement of lorries at high speed through the estate, which poses a risk to the residents who live in Bahía Las Rocas all year round.

Verdemar–Ecologistas en Acción warns that, if the Town Hall does not act immediately, it will report these matters to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, as it believes there may be planning and environmental offences.
