The mayor of Manilva and head of Public Safety, José Manuel Fernández, and the councillor for Infrastructure and Works, Agustín Vargas, together with municipal technicians, the Guardia Civil and the Local Police, inspected on Monday the damage caused by an act of vandalism on the new stretch of the Paseo Marítimo in Sabinillas.
Cement poured on the surface:
The act of vandalism involved cement being poured on the surface of the promenade, causing irreparable damage to the tiles because of their porosity. The affected pieces will have to be replaced, which means an additional cost and a delay to the final opening of the Paseo Marítimo.
Condemnation and complaint:
Municipal officials have strongly condemned this act, which damages the image of the municipality and of the Paseo Marítimo itself, a key area for leisure and local commerce. A complaint has been filed with the authorities and public help is being requested to find those responsible.
Works continue:
Despite this incident, work on the Paseo Marítimo is continuing and the final opening is expected to take place in the coming weeks. Manilva Town Hall reiterates its commitment to improving and maintaining the municipality’s public spaces and will not tolerate this type of vandalism, which harms the whole community.
