As has been usual in recent years once the summer season ends, the number of unemployed people in Manilva has risen. September 2026 closed with 804 unemployed, an increase of 17 people on the previous month of August (787), although the figures are positive compared with September in previous years.
Provincial and national figures
September has broken a run of seven consecutive months of falling unemployment in the province of Málaga, which had been going since February, and has recorded an increase of 1,057 unemployed people, according to figures published this Friday by the Ministry of Labour and Social Economy. The rise in unemployment, driven by workers leaving the services sector once summer is over, brings the total unemployment figure to 98,152 people, the lowest figure for that month since 2007.
In Spain, the figure has increased by 23,587 unemployed people, bringing the total to 2.37 million on the registers of the Servicio Estatal Público de Empleo (SEPE) offices.
The unemployment figures do show, however, that the year-on-year trend remains clearly positive, with a fall of 11,214 unemployed people in Málaga compared with the same month last year.
