The number of unemployed people in Manilva continues to fall. May 2026 closed with 881 people out of work, a drop of 24 compared with March (905), marking five consecutive months of falling unemployment in the municipality.
This latest figure confirms the positive trend in the local labour market at the start of the year and, as usual, coincides with the start of the tourist season, one of the main economic drivers in the area.
Female unemployment fell by 10 people, to 539 (549 in April), while male unemployment fell by 14, to 342 (356 in April). These figures reinforce the downward trend and also improve the year-on-year comparison, standing below the 895 unemployed people registered in May last year.
The services sector accounts for more than two thirds of local unemployment
The municipality’s economic structure is once again clearly reflected in the statistics. The services sector accounts for 602 unemployed people, which is 68.3% of total registered unemployment. Far behind come construction with 92 unemployed, people with no previous employment with 129, industry with 32, and agriculture and fishing with 26.
The most in-demand occupations are precisely those related to services, especially those linked to hospitality, catering, retail and customer service, sectors closely tied to the municipality’s tourist activity.
Provincial, regional and national figures
