UGT wins the Town Hall union elections

-

Today an election day was held at the Pabellón de Usos Múltiples in Manilva to elect the union representatives for the next four years at Manilva Town Hall.

The day passed off without incident, with one change compared with previous years: two polling stations were set up to separate civil service staff from contract staff, with representatives for each group elected from each one. UGT was the majority union in both.

At the civil service staff station, 80 of the 115 eligible voters (69.57%) had cast their vote by 15:30, giving 44 votes to UGT (5 representatives) and 35 votes to CCOO (4 representatives); one vote was declared void.

The contract staff station was split into two tables, separating unskilled specialist contract staff from technicians.

  • The technicians’ table had a 75% turnout. The two unions represented obtained the same number of votes, «14», but as UGT had a delegate with greater seniority, UGT won, securing 2 representatives against 1 for CCOO.
  • At the unskilled specialists’ table, with a 65.8% turnout, UGT was again the most voted, winning 5 representatives, followed by CCOO with 3 representatives and CSIF with 2.

This works council for contract staff will be made up of 7 UGT representatives, 4 from CCOO and 2 from CSIF.

The elected representatives will form the Works Council, which will meet to appoint its chair and secretary, with the responsibility of defending the rights and benefits of all municipal employees.
